我叫李哲嵩，现居江苏苏州市。我在2010年开始接触烟斗制作，两年后从建筑设计院辞职，成为一名专业的烟斗工匠。

现代主义建筑设计思潮深深影响了我对烟斗手工艺的价值观。我希望溯本逐源，在功能实用第一的基础上，力求用简洁的斗型来表现纯粹的石南木纹之美。瑞典的斯科滕.伊瓦松，博.诺德以及丹麦的耶斯.科诺维奇等奉行功能主义的先贤烟斗大师和他们的作品深深地鼓舞着我，激励我不断磨砺技艺，创造属于自己的烟斗语汇。

同时，我也受到苏工苏作（苏州传统手工艺）的工艺美学影响，追求作品干净、自然、紧凑、精致。为了与材料的自然纹理有机结合，工艺上惯用Freehand（先做型后开孔，或称徒手开孔）的方式来制作自由式或经典款的造型。

制斗所用石南根瘤，皆来自意大利的利古里亚大区。烟嘴材料多用德国产的黑色硫化橡胶，较少采用富含花色的坎伯兰或亚克力材料。在某些烟斗的装饰部分，我坚持选用自然肌理材料，如硬木，竹根，牦牛角等，但拒绝使用珍稀野生动物材料，如象牙，犀角等。

My name is Li Zhesong and I live in Suzhou in Jiangsu province.In 2012,I left my career as an architect to be a full time pipe-maker.

I get my inspiration from masters of classical pipes like Bo Nordh and Jess Chonowitsch and from what I see in their works I try to create my own style. I strive to improve my skills in engineering and in a design of my own.

Being affected by Suzhou traditional handicraft(蘇作), I advocates simplicity, nature, compactness and delicacy. To strive to combine with natural texture of materials, the pipes are freestyle or traditional shape made by freehand.

I maninly choose briar form Liguria Italy.Material for stems are hand cut   vulcantie and cumberland producted in Germany，but rarely seen colorful cumberland or acrylic used on my works.For ornamental accessories ,I strive to use combine natural textures and materials.
